46. Following follow back accounts
I think the right way to follow accounts that follow back is to go look for people that share the same interests as you do. If these accounts have almost the same number of followers as those they are following, they might follow back even though they do not broadcast it.
The accounts that you will have the best luck with actually having your tweets read will be the ones that are not following a huge number of people. A great ratio and volume could be a user who is following 45, and has 45 followers, that person is likely to take the time to look at your account when you follow them. They are also likely to give you a reciprocal follow since you tweet about what they are interested in and showed interest in their account. Following an account that is following 3000 and has 3000 followers will not likely result in you acquiring a real follower they are probably already at full capacity. They may follow you back but it is unlikely that you will be someone that they really follow and read your tweets. You will need to make an effort to communicate with them if you want to get on their radar.
A great way to get your name out there is to follow accounts that tweet about the same thing you are interested in. Why not follow an account that has an equal number of followers to who they are following? If you are looking to follow some one interesting then it makes no difference if they follow 3 people and have 10,000 followers, who cares, you want to hear what they have to say. However if you are looking for followers for yourself, then it make all the difference.
To find potential followers look for an equal amount of followers versus followed, and for less than 100 accounts on both sides. This will increase your chances of getting noticed and not lost in the crowd.
Another red flag is if they are following way more accounts than are following them. If you see they are following 1000 with 150 followers this is a huge red flag that they are spammers and probably farming followers only to spam them later. If they also have zero tweets that almost makes it definite that they are spammers. Be thoughtful and careful in your pursuit of follow backs.
